Upstart 04:45
I don’t like that the upstart’s so much better Approaches sounding very avant-garde I don’t like how he taunts my selfish methods I don’t like how he slims my wallet down Welcome to my world of unjust fights Where my money is divine I never saw a note I didn’t fall in love with At first sight I do not like my universal loathing I don’t know why you are not bowing down Is it that I see the world in greenbacks? Or that I only think in terms of pounds? Welcome to my world of unjust fights Where my money is divine I never saw a note I didn’t fall in love with At first sight Oh, what more to life is there Than the number on your bottom line? Oh how I love to watch it growing bigger over time And all I have to do is don my ol’ gold-plated blinders And I can see the world in shades of lustrous silver dollars Welcome to my world, to modern times All is under my oversight I never hesitate I’ve never feared to take What isn’t mine

The City 02:48
I've been around for a while, son I've seen how the disease spreads There once were people here But now the place is dead And it's a crying shame That nothing will ever change I've been saying that for 20 years and it's still the same I watch the city It's burning down around me The memories fade and the green surrounds me The city that bleeds from too many arteries But what can anyone do, really? I've been around for a while, son I ain't seen nothin' like this Pull the plug out Drain the oasis And it's a crying shame That time brings such decay I've been watching it for 20 years, we'll never be the same I watch the city It's burning down around me The memories fade and the green surrounds me The city that bleeds from too many arteries But what can anyone do, really? And it's a crying shame That nothing will ever change I've been saying that for 20 years and it's still the same

Taken Up 04:05
So long now, so many years ago I can barely remember A young boy, climbing Mount Olympus In the face of stormy weather He stood upon the summit So high he couldn’t see the ground The clouds began to clear The world kept spinning round Everything will be okay We are all so proud of you It’s gonna be a beautiful day I promise we’ll pull through And now the sky is falling in And I’m idle and in danger of being hit A permanent retreat Are you haunting me? Fast forward, so many years gone The boy has become a man And tumbled from the mountain While we all had turned our backs We noticed, tried to save him It was too little and to late We dumbly watched him As he fell to meet his fate Everything will be okay We are all so proud of you It’s gonna be a beautiful day I promise we’ll pull through And now the sky is falling in And I’m idle and in danger of being hit A permanent retreat Are you haunting me? Where is he? How far did he fall? Where is he? Nobody knows at all Everything would be okay If only I could control myself Everything would be okay If only I was good enough And now the sky is falling in But it’s because I’ve got a hammer and I’m taking swings Do you make a difference or is it only me?

Walking down my carefree avenue Got no idea where I’m going to Gonna keep on coasting down the line Taking it easy Never read a paper in my life I give a bad name to Generation Y Think I want the whole world to be mine Right on a string I’m so scared to feel a little pain That I’ve not moved from my chair in too many days I’m okay as long as every day Stays the same, stays the same, stays the same Walking down my carefree avenue Got no idea what I’m gonna do With stubborn pride I walk the line And never stray Never thought about the world before Never cared about nothing past my door Carry me there, I’ll make it right to the end of days I’m so scared to feel a little pain That I’ve not moved from my chair in too many days I’m okay as long as every day Stays the same, stays the same, stays the same! I’m so scared That I don’t care I’m so scared No I don’t care, don’t care
